They are gearing up for their Digital Dictator 30th Anniversary Tour which is set to kick off at  Rock Star University House of Rock on August 31st. We asked founder and lead guitarist, Geoff Thorpe about what fans could expect out on this tour, Geoff explained,

The fans can expect an old School classic night of  American Heavy Metal from VR with a historic night in Metal for SR. VR started in Santa Rosa back in 1979… it’s pretty crazy when I think about how long ago it was! The band started as a local band playing high schools and clubs and has gone on to record 13 studio albums including 3 albums on Atlantic Records,  3 live albums, toured all over the world, performing with Metallica,  Aerosmith, Scorpions, Judas Priest , Dio, Sabbath, so many others! Now 30 years later a headline tour of Digital Dictator album, 46 shows around the country! It’s all gone full curcle!! It’s a great kick off to start the tour at home! I asked “Intense ” to do a reunion and they agreed! It’s a special night forsure! They also have a long history and are good friends! I also write and record with there singer Jimmie Evan’s . It’s just great to have them with us! Also Hillmar Schubert’s band “Ancestors Wrath” are on the bill another great SR band of close friends, Hill is like my little brother( who’s way bigger and stronger than I) lol,  so great to have both these bands on this special opening night!! To Open the show our friend Norman Skinner’s  band Niviane will kick it all off, great band ! Norman go’s way back with VR as well and Niviane will also do the first 2 weeks of the tour ! Its gonna be a kick ass night!!
VR will play the whole Digital Dictator album plus classics from our almost 40 years !! We have a brand new DVD that is released Aug 31 in SR. It will be amazing to hear them perform the metal album that was truly defining of the moment and also represents so much of today’s times. With songs like Digital Dictator and Worlds and Machines, you would think it was written for today. Geoff explains, “The warning signs of the digital age were something we tapped into early… with the cold war theme of the first album” Soliders of the night” Digital Dictator was a look into the future … yet here we are!! Thanks for noticing!! I’m so pleased to see this album stand the test of time. I’m very proud that people hold the album is such high regard!! I’ve always surrounded myself with talented players who help to shape these records. the line up today is no different!! Amazing young talent in Gunnar Dügrey on guitar, Nick Courtney on vocals, Cody Green filling in on bass while Tilen Hudrap is out with Pestilence…. and the 2 originals Larry Howe and myself ,we are a killer team . I’ll have original Lps of Digital Dictator at the shows from “1988” real collector’s items !!”

Vicious Rumors put on a great show last year at House of Rock, so it will be great to see them return to this amazing venue. Geoff comments about the venue,  “It’s so great to kick things off at this amazing venue! Truly one of the best in the country!! Let alone California!! It just makes this historic night that much better cause the show, sound and vibe is as good as it gets in this top of line venue! We’re looking forward to a great start to 46 shows!!”
